Join Us to Inspire Young Creators with STEAM Magic
Our Story
In 2012, Dr. Emily Robertson and Dr. Enrico Bertelli co-curated the Big Ears conference at Queen’s University Belfast. Their aim was simple yet ambitious: to make complex, cross-disciplinary ideas—from music and theatre to visual arts and science—accessible and inspiring for marginalised children. Watching young people’s faces light up with understanding sparked a lifelong mission. Later that very day, while sharing pizzas with conference delegates, news arrived of their first successful grant application. From that serendipitous moment, Conductive Music was born.
From our first pilot in five Newham schools—where students explored coding, soldering, instrument design, and improvisation—we embraced every challenge as a chance to evolve.
As technology advanced, so did we: music apps, tablets, and community support helped us scale nationally, embedding gamification and STEAM into classrooms.
Today, with the backing of 40+ Music Services, the British Council, and leading trusts, we annually reach over 20,000 students across England, support 1,200 teachers in 250 schools, and collaborate with partners in more than 20 countries, including universities, arts organisations, education institutions, and charities.

Showcase: A Live Demonstration
Once the SLA is signed, we arrange a 40-minute remote showcase—ideal for lunchtime or twilight sessions. Teachers experience our activities, learning outcomes, and a Q&A, which can also fit into music coordinator gatherings across primary, secondary, or SEN settings. For Special Schools, it’s a chance to see us in action. Schools may also convert one or two delivery days into participation at their educational conference.
Bookings
Once you shortlist schools and confirm interest, we finalise dates, student numbers, and logistics. Our team manages reminders, queries, DBS checks, assurance, insurance, and risk assessments. For Special Schools, we arrange a preliminary call to tailor delivery, ensuring activities meet the specific needs of students and staff.
Delivery
With 12 years of excellence, we deliver gamified, music-led STEAM experiences recognised by the DfE in the NPME. In mainstream schools, we offer 4×2hr workshops over two days (Y1–8), plus remote options. For Special Schools, APs, and PRUs, we provide 11 tailored solutions. New workshops launch annually, shaped by feedback from 15,000 students and 1,000 teachers across 220 schools.
Post-Delivery
The learning never stops. Students receive certificates and access to 60 one-hour projects, extending creativity beyond the classroom. Teachers gain 9-month complimentary access to STEAM Corner, featuring 13 courses and 130+ lessons with videos, slides, and homework. We also provide ACE-aligned reports, consistently praised by partners for clarity and impact.
Continuation
Keep the momentum going with extended support options. We offer bespoke nine-session follow-up courses in remote or hybrid formats (see Add-Ons). Students can also pursue Arts Awards—Discover and Explore —by building portfolios and receiving certificates that celebrate their achievements, while deepening their creative engagement and sustaining long-term impact.

Our Packages
Our solutions offer flexible, scalable options to engage marginalised students in Mainstream, Special Schools, and Alternative Provisions. Packages are structured as teaching days, which you can allocate to schools according to your needs—ranging from a minimum of 8 days for 4 schools, up to 20 schools.
