Laura Sampson

Laura Sampson is a London-based storyteller and arts facilitator with a background in medieval literature (University College London) and book publishing. For children, she has worked with Polka Theatre, Rich Mix London and Discover Children’s Story Centre, alongside adult performances with organisations including the British Library, the Crick Crack Club, Bloomsbury Festival and London Horror Festival.

In 2012, Laura spent the best part of a year living in Tokyo, where she worked with literary agents, clowned in nurseries, and told stories at after-school clubs. She also fell in love with Japanese monsters, medieval samurai stories, and – most of all – with the traditional art of noh. She has studied and practiced noh ever since, and has performed with international collective Theatre Nohgaku, since 2014. Laura also co-produces Noh Training Project UK, an annual performance workshop hosted by Royal Holloway, University of London.
